At Woodlands Kids Co, we make it simple and transparent when it comes to your child care fees. Here's how it works based on your child’s age and hours of care:

1. You register for full-time (100+ hours per month) or part-time (50-99 hours per month)

2. Applicable government funding is applied

   1. Age 0 to kindergarten: We apply for the federal Affordability Grant for you, based on your enrolment (full time or part time)

   2. Kindergarten to age 12: you apply for Alberta Subsidy (if eligible) and provide us with proof of conditional or full approval

1. You only ever pay the parent portion of the fees

   • Age 0 to kindergarten FULL TIME = $326.25 per child, per month

   • Age 0 to kindergarten PART TIME = $230.00 per child, per month

   • Kindergarten to age 12 = program fee – subsidy = parent portion

1. You pay the parent portion for the month in advance (e.g. January’s fee is paid at the beginning of January).

   • Note, your first and last months of Alberta Child Care Subsidy may look different as they are based on actual hours of care (80 hours = 80% of subsidy)

Important Notes:

• The agency uses your child attendance record to claim funding – it’s very important that you sign your time sheets each day and ensure their accuracy!

• Though we subtract the government funding from your fee immediately, the agency does not actually receive the government funding until the following month (after attendance records are submitted).

Yes, it can.

In Alberta, the Federal Affordability Grant is tied to your child’s actual hours of care used per month, not just their scheduled enrollment. This means:

• If your child is registered for full-time care (100+ hours/month) but attends fewer than 100 hours in a given month, your funding may be adjusted to the part-time rate (50–99 hours/month).

• If your child attends fewer than 50 hours in a month, they will not qualify for any funding for that month, and you will be responsible for the full fee.

What this means for you:

• Attendance matters. Your funding level (and therefore your out-of-pocket cost) is based on the number of hours your child actually attends.

• To maintain full-time funding, your child must be in care for at least 100 hours in the month.

• We strongly encourage families to monitor attendance and aim for consistent scheduling where possible.

If you know your child will be away for an extended time (due to illness, vacation, etc.), please let us know in advance so we can help guide you through the best options.

As of April 1, 2025:

• Children ages 0 to kindergarten: Eligible for the Federal Affordability Grant (administered directly by the agency).

• Children in kindergarten to age 12: May be eligible for the Alberta Child Care Subsidy, based on family income and hours of care.

• The Affordability Grant is automatically applied based on enrolment (full-time or part-time). The Subsidy must be applied for by the parent.

Your monthly parent fee depends on your child’s age and care hours:

• Age 0 to kindergarten
  

  • Full-time (100+ hrs/month): $326.25/month

  • Part-time (50–99 hrs/month): $230.00/month

  • Less than 50 hrs/month: no funding, full fee applies

• Kindergarten to age 12

Parents of children in kindergarten to age 12 must apply online through the Alberta government portal.

No. As of April 1, 2025, the Child Care Subsidy is no longer available for children from birth up to kindergarten entry. These families now receive the Federal Affordability Grant, which is automatically applied by our licensed agency.

Your funding will be adjusted based on actual hours of care:

• If care falls between 50–99 hours, you'll receive the part-time grant.

• If less than 50 hours, no grant is applied, and you’ll pay the full program fee.

Woodlands Kids Co is a licensed Family Day Home Agency. This means:

• All educators are screened, trained, and monitored regularly.

• Homes follow strict health, safety, and developmental standards under Alberta’s Early Learning and Child Care Act.

• Our agency conducts monthly home visits, annual safety checks, and offers ongoing training.

All educators must:

• Hold a valid Child Care Certification (Level 1, 2, or 3)

• Maintain current first aid certification

• Pass a criminal record check and vulnerable sector search

• Participate in ongoing professional development and monitoring

Yes, but fees may still apply. Holding a spot requires continued payment of the parent portion, regardless of attendance. If your child attends less than 50 hours, funding may not apply, and you will be responsible for the full monthly fee.

Each educator sets their own daily operating hours, which typically fall between 6:30 AM – 6:00 PM. Flexibility depends on the educator’s availability and licensing limits.
